I was attracted to it by the replaceable battery feature, but found out the strap goes long before the battery and the joy of ownership goes out the window with the price of Nike wrist-band replacement.
I held onto my broken banded watch for awhile, and came up with a solution. First, don't try removing the screws that secure the watch-band pins. Not sure how they work, but I tried several times without luck. Even had a jeweler look at it without success.
I went to Kohl's and purchased a black velcro Timex replacement band for $8. Again this is the for the smaller version of the Oregon. The width of the timex band in 3/4'. It includes a elastic band to secure the watch. This elastic band runs under the back of the watch and over the two pins. It is secured to a faux leather tab (with emblems), which is in turn attached to the velco band.
Find great deals on eBay for Nike Oregon Watch in Wristwatches. Nike Men's WA9002 Oregon Series Alti-Compass. I don't got any manuals for them. Nike Hammer WC0021 CR2032 Oregon Alti-Race WA0027 CR2032. Oregon Series Alti-Compass Dark WA9002 CR2032 Oregon.
Using a razor knife, I detached the faux leather pad from the velcro band and ran it under the watch pins, then reattached it with a touch of Gorilla glue. Be careful to wipe off any excess as Gorilla glue expands as it dries. Finally I blacked out the Timex advertising with a black felt permanent marker.
No reason to think this wouldn't work on the larger, mens' version of the same watch. Posted on Nov 18, 2008.
Price $99.00 Brand Seller Available on WatchUSeek Location France Description Don't think anybody would be looking for one of these here on WUS, but thought I list it anyway in case someone is: Nike Oregon Alti-Comp watch, model# WA0018. This is the identical watch to the original Nike Lance 4 as worn by Lance Armstrong on some of his earlier Tour de France wins; all except the Lance signature logo on the back. Watch functions 100% and battery was just replaced right before the holidays. Backlight lights up as it should. Has altimeter, compass, stop watch, timer, and therometer.
Cosmetically watch is about 75-80% overall, crystal is very clean with no scratches. Original rubber strap is missing the Nike logo stud that locks the strap keeper. But I am including a brand new still in bag OEM rubber strap which does have the stud. No box or manual, but manual can be downloaded from Nike.com still.
Excellent all around sports watch, and economical alternative to the latest triple sensor G-Shocks at fraction of the price. Selling because it is not getting any wrist time, I end up wearing a HRM watch when working out. $99 all-in and I will take care of PP fee and insured USPS Priority Mail shipping.
