This system is ready to use as soon as you receive it. I have fully tested all features and functions and it works perfect. This system was designed by pharmacists for pharmacists and it only takes about 10 minutes reading the operating manual to be fully familiar with the operation. Will quickly count the number of pills/tablets in a bottle or in bulk perfect for outpatient pharmacies, health care, laboratory or even home use for those of you who handle a lot of medication. Good for European or US electricity.
Good for compound weighing and the scale will work just fine as a stand-alone unit without the scanner/barcode reader attached. This system is also printer compatible. The scanner/barcode reader plugs into the scale and capable of a 3240 pill/tablet pre-calibrated onboard pill/tablet record library. When the record library is full then the oldest unused record is automatically deleted to provide room for new records in turn keeping the record library up to date with your inventory. Simply scan the barcode on the bulk prescription or bottle and your ready to start counting. This machine can be tared for any bottle, bowl or scoop to make pill handling easier.
The hand held laser light barcode reader will mount in the scanner unit for “hands free” use or can be removed to be operated by hand with trigger. Counting is easy by dropping either 5 or 10 tablets on the tray or in the scoop.
The machine quickly calibrates itself to the weight of these pills enabling the user to place any number of pills on the tray/bowl/scoop and the machine will tell you exactly how many pills there are. Will remain set at the last pill counted until the user decides to change it. Perfect for multiple prescription filling.
The True Power Of Water By Masaru Emoto Download Movies. I have posted several pictures of the machine in use. The 't/c' on the display represents 'total count', the 'g' represents 'gram'. This machine can also be set to use as a gram scale to measure 0.02g – 310g but does display in 0.001 increments. I have tested the machine several times and it has worked perfectly every time in the pill counting mode, scale mode and record library modes. New product barcodes are easily entered into the library. Can be used hands free.
I read on a Mckesson website this machine has the capability to weigh up to 400 pills every 10 seconds. I spoke with a Mckesson technician who told me this scale is accurate to +/- 1 pill per 1000 when dealing with small pills, even more accurate for larger pills. The balance scale mode is so accurate I was able to weigh a grain of salt. This system is still supported by the manufacturer and over the years I have found the Mckesson technical support staff will bend over backwards to help you. SAN FRANCISCO--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 28, 1998-- Acquisition of Market Leader Accelerates Supply Management Automation Services for Retail, Mail-Order and Outpatient Pharmacies McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK), the leading health care supply management company in North America, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Automated Prescription Systems, Inc. (Baker/APS), of Pineville, La., a privately held manufacturer of automated prescription filling and dispensing systems, for approximately 1.3 million shares of McKesson common stock plus assumption of approximately $48 million in debt and other liabilities.
The agreement has been structured as a tax-free transaction and will be accounted for as a pooling of interests. Closing is subject to the expiration or earlier termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. Baker/APS, which had revenues of $31 million for the 12 months ended July 31, 1998, is the leader in automated counting and dispensing technology for retail, mail-order and outpatient pharmacies, with approximately 6,000 customer sites across the United States.
One of its key products, Pharmacy 2000, combines proprietary software with computer hardware and Baker/APS's automated counting technologies to create a complete productivity-improvement system for pharmacies filling more than 2,000 prescriptions per week. The acquisition of Baker/APS will complement McKesson's existing pharmacy dispensing capabilities. In April 1996, McKesson acquired Automated Healthcare, Inc., which makes ROBOT-Rx(TM), a robotic pharmacy dispensing and utilization tracking system that enables hospitals to lower pharmacy costs while significantly improving the accuracy of drug dispensing. The rapid increase of the ROBOT-Rx installed base coupled with a growing backlog and expanding product line have established McKesson Automated Healthcare (MAH), a business unit of the McKesson Health Systems Group, as an industry leader in comprehensive solutions for hospital pharmacy automation. 'The value delivered to retail, mail-order and outpatient pharmacies by the Baker/APS technology to automate the prescription dispensing process complements the value delivered to hospital pharmacies by MAH's robotic technology,' said Mark T. Majeske, group president, McKesson Customer Operations Group. 'We will now be able to offer a full range of automated solutions across our entire customer base to address pharmacy's needs for improved productivity, quality and service.
We see immediate opportunities to increase sales of Baker/APS's automation solutions with our key retail relationships and to new customers with our 300-person sales force.' 'The acquisition of Baker/APS will be nondilutive to McKesson earnings per share in fiscal 1999, and with its higher operating margins will be accretive before synergies in fiscal 2000,' said Richard H. Hawkins, McKesson vice president and chief financial officer. 'Increased penetration of McKesson's existing chain and institutional customers and increased sales to new customers through our much larger sales force is an additional upside for earnings per share growth.' Following completion of the transaction, Baker/APS will continue to be based in Pineville, La. Beattie, III, will remain president, reporting to Majeske.
All 190 Baker/APS employees will be offered continued employment. McKesson will assume Baker/APS's 50 percent ownership of a joint venture, SI/Baker, which designs and installs customized, fully automated, computer-controlled, integrated pharmacy productivity solutions that combine conveyor-belt material handling technologies, automated counting technologies and robotics for individual very high-volume institutional and mail-order pharmacy sites.
The Baker/APS product line includes the following modular products, which can be used separately or in combination depending on the customer's individual needs: -0- -- Baker Instant Access Cells, a self-contained, fully automated electronic system for counting and dispensing tablet and capsule pharmaceuticals, rapidly and at high volumes. -- Baker Cassettes, which are placed manually into instruments that automatically count and dispense tablet and capsule pharmaceuticals, for the next lower level of volume. -- Baker Universal, a highly calibrated, precision scale for extremely rapid counting of pharmaceutical tablets and capsules to fill prescriptions or manage inventory based on a comprehensive pre-programmed library of pharmaceutical library weights. -- Pharmacy 2000, a workflow-management system and software integrated with Baker Cells and Baker Cassettes for prescription and pill imaging, directed filling and packing, and pharmacist checking and counseling.
-- AutoScript III, a touch-screen driven robot that automates the selection and filling of prescription tablets and capsules from Baker Cassettes into bar-coded, labeled vials. These products for outpatient pharmacies complement automated pharmacy technologies for hospitals and integrated health networks from MAH. The MAH product line includes: -- ROBOT-Rx, a robotic pharmacy dispensing and utilization tracking system that enables hospitals to lower pharmacy costs while significantly improving the accuracy of drug dispensing. Scalable to small-, medium- and large-sized hospitals, ROBOT-Rx is a total solution that dispenses more than 90 percent of all unit-dose medications. -- AcuDose-Rx(TM), a new unit-based cabinet that securely dispenses bar-coded unit-dose medications. -- AcuScan-Rx(TM), which automates patient record information by scanning patient, drug and nurse identification at the point of drug administration.
-- Connect-Rx(TM), a software interface that links McKesson Automated Healthcare's automation products, captures data and monitors pharmaceutical usage from the manufacturer to the patient's bedside.
